Matang Wildlife Centre - Sarawak

As promised here are some information on Matang Wildlife Center.

Description
The Matang Wildlife Centre is situated at the western corner of the Kubah National Park, consisting of about 179 hectares of lowland forest.

At the Centre the animals live in huge enclosures surrounded by their natural habitats.


It is a Centre for:

Education.
Students from primary to tertiary institutions can do nature studies as a supplement to their classroom activities. Special groups and the general public are also welcome.

Research.
The Centre will cater for researchers from local and overseas universities.

Conservation.
Endangered animal species confiscated from the public will be rehabilitated here as an effort to promote awareness on the conservation of these species.

Recreation.
Visitors can relax by the rock pools and waterfalls, or trek along the nature trails.

How to get there?
Matang Wildlife Centre is about 30 kms from Kuching City and it takes about 40 minutes to reach the Centre. Since there is no regular bus schedule to the area, hiring a taxi is recommended. Alternatively, you may contact any of the travel operators who offer packaged tours.

8:00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. (From Monday to Sunday)

Adults - RM3.00
Children, Students - RM1.00

Capacity and Features:
Longhouse Lodge The longhouse has eight rooms, a common bathroom and toilet. Each room has two twin-sharing beds. It is designed like a traditional longhouse with all the rooms facing a large communal area.


Chalet There are two chalets.

Each chalet consists of 2 air-conditioned bedrooms with toilet and bath, a living room, a dining room and a kitchen.
